About Abbey Fruit: The Story So Far...
Like the majority of soft fruit packhouses, Abbey Fruit originally used a farm shed located at Windyhills Farm, which had been converted to accommodate a packing operation.
The ability to increase the volume of packed fruit at the farm was limited due to the confined space and basic facilities. In addition, the space for movement, loading etc., of strawberries was inadequate and the standards of hygiene and facilities necessary for fruit packing in the 21st century could never have been achieved in the converted farm buildings.

So, we purchased a prominent site at the front of Kirkton Industrial Estate Arbroath and building commenced in November 1998. The resulting buildings were ready for fruit packing to commence in early June 1999.
Having a purpose built factory, with it's own trained personnel and management team, has allowed Abbey Fruit to steadily expand it's packing operation year on year.
We have an excellent relationship with the UK's major supermarkets and a reputation of being a very reliable packer of both fresh and frozen produce. A business is only as good as it's people and we believe we have one of the best teams around! Come and meet us and find out for yourself.
Packing processes and machinery
When it comes to processes and machinery we use the very latest technology available. Whether it's the use of ozone as a decontaminent, packing to average weights, catch weigh price labelling, preparing products, or one of the many other techniques we use on a daily basis, we can demonstrate excellent service levels coupled with total commitment to what we do best.
We have been packing and delivering produce throughout the UK for the last 9 years and continue to seek new challenges.
So, we hope you enjoy our web site and we hope to hear from you soon whether it's an enquiry about packing or about joining the team here in Arbroath.
